Today I spoke to the undergraduate psychology class about psychometrics. The lecture was titled "Measuring things you can't see."
We talked about validation, reliability, and the temptation to treat a statistical score as a absolute truth. My advice to them: a scale is a tool, not a telescope. It helps you look, but it doesn't see for you.
